What is International DiploMUN Online?

What Is a Model United Nations (MUN) Conference?
Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are internationally recognized academic simulations where students represent real-world countries and defend their interests in global debates. Participants — ranging from middle school to university level — take on the role of diplomats in bodies such as the UN Security Council or General Assembly. By negotiating resolutions to global crises, they develop highly sought-after 21st-century skills such as leadership, oratory, negotiation, and strategic thinking. More than just a competition, MUN is a gateway to global citizenship and a powerful platform for those aspiring to careers in diplomacy, international relations, law, business, or public policy.

About Instituto Diplomun
Instituto Diplomun is Brazil’s most awarded delegation at both Harvard and Yale MUN, recognized for its world-class preparation and transformational leadership training. With over 25,000 students trained across more than 30 countries, Diplomun has become a reference in academic excellence and international debate performance. Its delegates consistently earn top distinctions at the most competitive conferences in the world, including Best Delegate and Best Delegation honors. Backed by expert mentors from leading universities such as Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), Diplomun equips young people not only to participate—but to lead on the global stage.

The Conference: International DiploMUN Online (IDO) 2025
International DiploMUN Online (IDO) is one of the largest and most globally recognized MUN conferences, designed specifically to prepare students for elite-level competitions such as Harvard MUN, Yale MUN, and the Ivy League circuit. Since its creation, the DiploMUN Conferences have impacted over 10,000 delegates from 30+ countries, building an international community of high-performance young leaders. Now, with IDO 2025, Diplomun is taking excellence to the next level. This edition will feature more advanced debates, more international delegations, and new platforms for recognition on a global scale—while remaining 100% free of charge, reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and impact.

Preparation and Training
Every IDO delegate receives over 5 hours of intensive training led by internationally awarded instructors—the same preparation model that powers Diplomun delegations at Harvard and Yale. From mastering parliamentary procedure to crafting persuasive speeches and strategic alliances, participants are equipped with all the tools they need to compete and stand out at the highest levels of MUN worldwide. Whether it is your first conference or your fiftieth, IDO 2025 ensures one thing: You won’t just attend a conference. You will leave as a stronger diplomat, thinker, and leader.

This year, our priority is to reduce the size of IDO while dramatically raising the bar of competitiveness and rigor. Expect tighter committee caps, harder topics, faster-paced procedure, and stricter evaluation. Seats are limited, selection will weigh clarity of motivation and prior engagement, and awards will be reserved for exceptional performance in research depth, bloc leadership, clause craftsmanship, and live negotiation. In short: fewer slots, much higher level — an extremely competitive conference designed to make you sharper, faster, and truly ready for HMUN/HNMUN and ILMUNC.

Platform and Procedures
International DiploMUN Online (IDO) 2025 will be hosted entirely via Zoom, ensuring high-quality video conferencing across all committees. Prior to the conference, Instituto Diplomun will conduct expert-led training sessions, providing delegates with study guides, country assignments, and procedural briefings to guarantee full readiness. Participants will also gain access to a dedicated private virtual community, designed to foster international networking, collaboration, and strategic alliances even before debate begins. Access links and technical instructions will be sent via email, and all conference protocols will be clearly outlined during training and reiterated at the start of each session.

Eligibility
IDO 2025 is open to students aged 13 to 23, from middle school to university and gap year programs. Whether you are a first-time delegate or an experienced competitor, this is an opportunity to develop elite skills in public speaking, leadership, diplomacy, and negotiation—while representing a country in high-level debates on global crises. More than just an academic experience, IDO offers international visibility and access to a global network of ambitious young leaders from dozens of countries.

Awards and Certificates
All participants will receive an official Certificate of Participation, issued by Instituto Diplomun, one of the most awarded MUN institutions in the world. However, only the top-performing delegates in each committee will be honored with distinction.
Delegates will be evaluated on:
  • Oratory and Persuasion
  • Leadership and Diplomacy
  • Negotiation Strategy
  • Substantive Contributions to Debate
Those who excel will receive prestigious Written and Oral Awards, announced live during the Closing Ceremony. These recognitions are highly valued in academic applications, scholarships, and international opportunities, and will be formally sent via email as official documentation of excellence.

Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee – “Never Again”—Again? — Ethnic Cleansing & Present-Day Genocides
Despite global promises of “Never Again,” the 21st century continues to witness mass atrocities that echo the darkest chapters of human history. From the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar to the persecution of Uyghurs in China, from the Tigray conflict in Ethiopia to escalating communal violence in regions of the Middle East and Eastern Europe—the mechanisms of ethnic cleansing have evolved, but the international response remains painfully familiar: statements of condemnation, delayed action, and political deadlock.

In this committee, delegates will confront one of the most complex dilemmas in international relations: When does political neutrality become complicity? Nations are often reluctant to label ongoing crises as genocide due to legal and diplomatic consequences, while powerful states leverage humanitarian narratives for strategic gain. Delegates must navigate competing definitions, conflicting intelligence, media manipulation, and the geopolitics surrounding intervention. Is military intervention ever justified? Should economic sanctions or international tribunals be the primary response? And what responsibility—if any—do corporations and social media platforms bear in these crises?

This committee will also examine the early warning signs of genocide, from hate speech and forced displacement to cultural erasure and digital surveillance. Delegates will be tasked not only with responding to active humanitarian emergencies but also with designing proactive international frameworks capable of detecting and preventing ethnic cleansing before it escalates. Collaboration with NGOs, peacekeeping operations, and judicial bodies such as the International Criminal Court will be crucial in crafting realistic and enforceable resolutions.

Ultimately, this is not just a historical debate — it is a test of political courage. Delegates must determine whether “Never Again” will remain a hollow slogan repeated after every tragedy, or whether today’s leaders will establish the structures necessary to prevent the next one. The world has heard the promise. In this committee, it is time to decide whether we will finally keep it.
Schedule & Timezone
The International DiploMUN Online 2025 has been designed to deliver a high-impact, academically rigorous experience for young leaders across the globe. Taking place on November 29th and 30th, 2025, the conference will immerse delegates in two intensive days of simulated United Nations diplomacy — including structured debates, crisis negotiations, press engagements, and an optional virtual networking social. All training sessions will be communicated separately to ensure that every participant, regardless of prior experience, is fully prepared to engage with confidence, strategy, and diplomatic excellence.
